Lasagna

Ingredients
  • 1 lb. ground turkey or beef
  • 2 cans (26 oz. each) of spaghetti sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 box of lasagna noodles
  • 1 (32 oz.) carton ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 Tbsp. dried parsley
  • 1½ tsp. salt
  • 1½ tsp. dried oregano
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 (4 oz.) can of mushroom stems and pieces, drained

Directions

Cook and stir hamburger, onion and garlic; drain.  Add spaghetti sauce to hamburger; add sugar.  Season to taste.

Cook noodles as directed on package.  Mix ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, parsley, salt and oregano. 

Spoon enough sauce into the baking dish to cover bottom, then add a layer of noodles.  Top with ½ of the ricotta mixture, another layer of noodles, and half of the remaining sauce.  Repeat with another layer of noodles, remaining ricotta mixture, noodles, and remaining sauce.  Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese; top with mushrooms.  Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 350ºF for 45 minutes.

Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until cheese is lightly brown.  Let stand 15 minutes to set before cutting.
